Vaccinium macrocarpon Cranberry ‘Ben Lear’

Highly productive and easy to grow cultivar with large antioxidant rich red berries. Nice selection of a US native. Cranberries can be eaten fresh, made into sauce, juice or preserves. They are great sources of vit c and excellent to protect against urinary tract infections. Most cranberries require a watery bog to grow in, but ‘Ben Lear’ cranberry can grow in average garden soil. Forms an evergreen sprawling shrublet about 1 ft tall and wide, but can spread via runners. Rich acidic soil. Sun-part shade. Regular water. Zones 4-8
