Stokesia ‘Peachies Pick’ (Stokes Aster)

Named for the plantswoman and florist who discovered it, this variety is exceptional in every way. Thank you ‘Peachie’.This stokesia begins blooming slightly later than others, but blooms for a much longer time and more prolifically with large purple- blue flowers and distinctive jaggedy edges. Even the buds are showy. They look like white balls nestled into ruffled puffs of lime-green bracts. Compact 2’mounding form and doesn’t seed around, instead she puts her energy into flowering. Begins flowering mid- late summer- just as the rest of your garden looks a bit tired and is waning. ‘Peachies Pick’ bridges the gap and blooms summer- fall attracting butterflies. All the pollinators appreciate the late season food. Likes a sunny spot. Did I mention that it doesn’t flop like older cultivars? Yay. Super tough, unfussy about soil and easy to grow. Can handle deer, heat drought and has no disease problems. Perennial Zone 6-9
