Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Ruby Slippers’

Sensational new compact form of our native oakleaf Hydrangea. This is a beautiful mounding form with extra large green leaves shaped like oak leaves. I would grow it for the bold dense foliage alone, but it really shines in early Summer when it explodes into bloom. Snow white 9-inch floral cluster held upright change to a lovely pink and deepen to almost red to usher in a Fall color palette. The mahogany-red Fall foliage and exfoliating mature branches create garden interest year-round. Prefers some shade in evenly moist rich soil. Can handle sun but likes protection from the really hot late day sun. Suited for smaller landscapes at 42”H x 60”W. Deciduous.
