Athyrium ‘Godzilla’

AKA ‘Giant Japanese Painted Fern’ A dinosaur sized Painted Fern. We can thank’ Plant Delights Nursery’ for this sporeling cross discovery of Pictum and Lady Fern. It forms a massive, arching fern of silvery fronds with green highlights and dark purple stems. Godzilla spreads slowly where it is happiest in moist, loamy soils. Try growing this fern as a low maintenance filler in shady borders combined with large blue hostas, colorful Heucheras like ‘ Forever Purple’ and the chartreuse foliage of ‘Aralia ‘Sun King. With a tapestry like that… who needs flowers! When happy it’s mature size can reach 3′ tall x 6’ wide. Zone 4-8 Rabbit resistant.
