Sambucus nigra ‘Elderberry Laced Up’

Laced Up Elderberry is an exciting new and unusual introduction. The fastigate form is narrow enough to tuck into any garden to help create a layered look and a tapestry of color. The foliage is deeply dissected with a lacy look. Leaf color is glossy deep purple appearing nearly black. If planted with another elderberry for pollination the soft pink lacecap flowers in early summer turn to edible berries in fall. Note : Berries MUST be Cooked! Please see my article on elderberry syrup for more info. Grows 6-10ft and only 3 ft wide. Deciduous, Deer resistant. Hardy in zones 5-7 Full to part Sun.
