Monardella villosa ‘Russian River’ (Coyote Mint)

Russian River, is a vigorous native selection of native Coyote Mint. This low growing evergreen shrublet requires very little water and can function as a sweet groundcover or pathway edger for difficult areas. Lavender puffball flowers decorate the edible foliage all summer. Makes a nice minty tea. Monardella Villosa grows naturally on rocky slopes and Oak woodlands from Southern Oregon to Cali., so you know this is one tough plant. Highly versatile and forgiving, it can grow in sun to part shade. Low-no water, but an occasional drink during droughts extends bloom-time. Bee and butterfly magnet, but the fuzzy minty foliage deters deer browsing. 1-2’ tall x 3’ wide Hardy to -10 F.
