Geranium ‘Anne Thompson’ (Cranesbill)

Fabulous color in part shade. Bold and beautiful HARDY geranium. Beloved for it’s 1″ magenta flowers with black eyes atop vigorous chartreuse foliage with an exceptionally long bloom-time… spring through fall. Not to be confused with the annual Geraniums called Pelargoniums. Sharing the same parentage and flowers as ‘Ann Folkard’, this selection has a more compact mounding habit and improved flowering through the heat of the summer. Hardy perennial geraniums help knit a garden together, but few do it as well as ‘Anne Thompson’. She excels at creating a lush carpet of color, gently weaving through other plants at the front of a border. Doesn’t look like much on a nursery table, but everyone who sees her in my display garden wants one. We can thank dedicated geranium breeder ‘Alan Bremmer’ for this wonderful introduction. Won the prestigious Award of Garden of Merit Award from the Royal Horticulture Society for it’s exceptional garden performance, so you know it’s great! Happiest in bright shade with a drink during dry spells. Bees and butterflies adore it, while deer and rabbits avoid it. Cut back in winter for fresh foliage in spring. Ht 18″ x 3′ wide Zone 5-9
