Vaccinium angustifolium ‘Burgundy’

Grow your own superfood in a semi-shady garden or food-forest! Loaded with antioxidants. This selection of wild Maine lowbush blueberry, sports colorful foliage and abundant crops of tasty, sweet, blue berries. New foliage growth is burgundy-red colored, maturing to grey green andbright orange- red in fall.  Makes an especially nice edible ornamental shrublet / groundcover. White spring flowers followed by ‘wild tasting’ small blueberries with more antioxidant power than highbush blueberries. I love them in smoothies and pancakes! Makes a great understory groundcover at sunny forest edges. Deciduous. Performs best in acidic well drained soil in at least ½ day sun. Zone 3-8.  1’ tall by 3’ wide and slowly spreading.
