Pieris japonica ‘Flaming Silver’

An elegant and hardy evergreen shrub, Japanese pieris offers something for every season. Colorful leaves and a compact habit make 'Flaming Silver' an especially desirable hybrid of this eastern Asian native. The flame-red new leaves subside to pink in late spring and finally to dark green in Summer, developing a white margin as they mature. Also contributing to this cultivar's year-round display are its drooping chains of greenish white flower buds in Winter and its pure white urn-shaped flowers in Spring. The fragrant flowers open from early to mid-Spring. About half the height of full-sized cultivars, 'Flaming Silver' grows slowly into a dense rounded shrub.
With its handsome form, showy foliage, elegant blooms and resistance to deer, 'Flaming Silver' is an excellent addition to partially shaded areas of the garden. Preferring moist, acidic, well-drained soil, it works well as a featured specimen or in a mixed border or foundation planting. Zones 5-9, 5’H x 5’W
