Lespedeza liukiuensis ‘Little Volcano’

Little Volcano bush clover is a spectacular selection of Bush clover. It blooms later than Gibraltar with a richer flower color and unlike other selections, has stunning yellow fall color. Bush clovers are in the pea family and help to improve the soil by fixing nitrogen with tiny root nodules. What a wonderful idea to plant these among edibles in a food forest or near a veggie garden. It adds nitrogen to the soil and provides late season nectar to pollinators at a time when most things are finished blooming. You can also grow it because it’s simply beautiful! Don’t let the name ‘Little Volcano’ fool you… this is a big shrub. Give her some room. She grows about 7’ tall and much wider over time. Deer resistant. Deciduous. Zones 6-9
