Diervilla Kodiak® Orange

Brilliant selection of a North American native shrub. Diervilla ‘Kodiac Orange’ emerges in spring with a warm peachy orange blush; transitioning to a vivid pumpkin orange in fall. Small yellow flowers in summer feed pollinators. Drought deer and shade tolerant. Yay! 3’-4’ tall and wide. Deciduous. Zones 4-7

Care: can be planted in full sun- full shade. Tolerant of dry shade (though color is best with at least some sun) More sun brings out the colorful foliage. Happiest in half day sun with evenly moist rich soil, but it’s not fussy and can handle drought and most soil types. Flower buds form on new growth. Prune in spring if desired. It would appreciate a scoop of compost.
