Gloxinia sylvatica ‘Bolivian Sunset’

Sleeping through the spring, ‘Bolivian Sunset’ Gloxinia is a stunning surprise when she bursts into bloom late summer-fall. ‘Bolivian Sunset’ has an upright growth habit with vivid red-orange tubular flowers. Hummingbird candy! Happiest in moist composty soil with morning sun and afternoon shade or dappled sun. Easy once established and spreads by underground tubers to create a fabulous fall display. Compared to Hardy Gloxinia ‘Evita’ Bolivian Sunset has a more commanding upright habit to 2’. Like Evita, it’s a bit late to emerge from a winter slumber, so be patient and enjoy the fall show when the rest of the garden is tired. Where hardiness is questioned , best planted in early spring or summer for time to establish. Provide well drained soil, meaning (amend if there’s clay) and a protective mulch layer. Deer resistant.
