Epimedium Grandiflorum ‘Lilafee’

Epimediums make a delightful groundcover for dry shade and those difficult to plant shady areas. ‘Lilafee’ the Lilac fairy, is a popular selection noted for it’s lovely amethyst purple flowers with white spurs that dance above interesting foliage on long wiry stems. New leaves are tinted purple, fall colors are a colorful blend of crimson to dark purple. Deer resistant. Prefers well drained soil in part to full shade. Drought tolerant once established. Excellent used along paths and under deciduous trees.A must have for fairy gardens in the woods! Epimediums are also called Bishops hat, Horny Goat weed, Barrenwort and fairy wings. To me they look like fairies dancing, so I’ll go with fairy wings. They combine well with other shade plants like ferns, hostas, Japanese forest grass, Columbines and Corydalis.
