Begonia grandis ‘Herons Pirouette’ Hardy Begonia
A truly hardy begonia that can overwinter in your zone 6 or higher shade garden! This is a choice selection of hardy Begonia grandis, sporting exceptionally large pink flower clusters held on brilliant magenta stems. The flowers dance above large heart shaped foliage from July to frost. We can all thank plantsman, Dan Hinkley for introducing this delightful denizen of the woodland. Will slowly form a nice colony as it’s bulbils multiply. Prefers part shade in rich humusy soil kept evenly moist while establishing. It will survive drier conditions once established. I mulch mine before Winter for extra protection. Late to emerge in Spring, but oh so worth the wait. It will shine late Summer through Fall. Hardy, deer resistant perennial. Height 2′ width 3′ Zone 6-9
