Vaccinium ‘Patriot’ Blueberry

Blueberry plants make excellent edible ornamentals tucked into a garden bed or massed in the landscape. Showy white lantern shaped flowers in Spring followed by Blueberries. Patriot is, in my opinion, one of the best tasting. Flavorful, yummy fruit ripens mid to late season, providing a harvest for up to 6 weeks. Patriot has an upright well branched form and fiery Fall color. Honeybees love the lantern shaped flowers in Spring. Pair with another variety for cross-pollination and optimal yield. Blueberries are one of the most nutrient dense berries and are loaded with antioxidants. Growing your own is so easy and rewarding. Enjoy the berries fresh, frozen for smoothies, juiced or cooked. Prefers mildly acidic evenly moist soil in full sun to part shade. I place sawdust shavings around the base every year as mulch and fertilize in Spring with an Organic Azalea Rhodie food.
