Vaccineum ovatum ‘Evergreen Huckleberry’

‘Must have’ shrub for every native garden. This is the wonderful evergreen Huckleberry so loved in pacific NW forests. Eaten out of hand, featured in pancakes, muffins, jams and syrup these berries are a late Summer staple and a super easy landscape shrub. This fine Evergreen features glossy leaves, bronze red new shoots, red tinted winter leaves and pink bell- shaped flowers followed by tasty black berries. It’s happy in sun or shade. In shady forested areas it can form small colonies reaching 12 ft tall. More compact in full sun, it only reaches 3-5 ft. Happy in acidic soil with a bit of organic compost and some thick mulch.
