Noble rhubarb, Sikkim rhubarb ‘Rheum Nobile’

I grow it for the sheer joy of watching seasoned plant nerds scratch their heads in amazement. I'm an eclectic oddball so this is the perfect plant for me. This unique amazing perennial from the Rhubarb family erupts with a tapering spire of tightly layered creamy colored bracts on a strong tall stem. Adding to its charm are the pleated heavily veined basal leaves creating a low skirt. Truly a specimen Dr. Seuss plant! Slow growing, but worth the wait. Prefers moist well drained fertile soil but tolerates heavy clay and undesirable conditions. Sun or semi-shade.
Edibility: Leaf and stem. contains oxalic acid which may be reduced if cooked. Used as a veggie where it grows wild. 5'H x 3'W Zone 6-9
