Potentilla napalensis (napalensis cinquefoil)

Potentilla napalensis has vivid cupped scarlet flowers perched on long reddish stems. The basal foliage looks like cute strawberry leaves with frosted tips and has a loose sprawling habit.. It has a long bloom-time from spring through summer. Easy. Deer resistant and drought tolerant once established. Looks best with occasional water during dry spells. Shear back after flowering to rejuvenate foliage and encourage rebloom. Perennial Zones 4-7. 1- 2 ft tall and wide

Edible and medicinal uses of Potentilla napalensis: As an herb, an extract of the shoots has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Rich in tannins it’s used for dysentery and diarrhea. As a food source the starchy roots are edible.
