Ficus afganistanica “Silver Lyre’ Fig

Extremely ornamental selection of hardy fig, selected and named by the wonderful plantsman, Sean Hogan. Lacy blue, silver dusted foliage, red stems and a pleasing rounded form make a wonderful foliage foil. A striking selection worthy of a place in an ornamental garden, food forest or large container. Prolific producer of small dark figs with a sweet flavor. The skin is a bit thicker and they are generally dried before use. These small Afghan figs are popular in the raw food world when dried and are a culinary delicacy in their native range in Afghanistan, Iran and Northern India. Large shrub or small tree to about 8’. Sun-part sun and hardy in zone 7 and above.
