Drimys Lanceolata

Vibrant red stems, leaf veins and buds contrast with dark green evergreen foliage creating an overall elegant look. Small fragrant white flowers are followed by black berries that aborigines dried and used as a peppery spice and makes a suitable pepper and all-spice substitute. The leaves are aromatic, having a strong cinnamon scent and are used as a fragrance. Hails from high elevations in Australia-New South Wales and Tasmania. It’s known as Tasmanian Mountain Pepper.
