Ajuga reptans “Pink Lightning”

One of the most beautiful and useful groundcovers for sun or shade. This exciting new Ajuga will charm you. Most ajugas have purple flowers, Pink Lightning has crinkled mint-green foliage broadly edged in cream. The lovely green and white variegated leaves hold their color all year and shine in the shady border. Spring brings a carpet of large pink flowers that look wonderful against the foliage. With a name like bugleweed or carpet bugle, you know it’s a tough plant for difficult spots. It will slowly form weed smothering mats that provide multi-season appeal.

As with all ajugas, keep them well watered during dry spells the 1st year. Once established they are pretty drought tolerant, making them a problem solver in those dry shady places that nothing else seems to grow in. It’s deer-resistant and a Spring delight for butterflies, bees and hummers.
