Blechnum spicant (Deer Fern)

This charming evergreen PNW native fern thrives in part-full shade. Displays a slightly flattened rosette of glossy, sterile fronds with some stiffly upright fertile fronds. Deer and rabbit resistant and drought tolerant once established. Will grow thicker and lusher with some amended soil and summer water. 2’ tall and wide. Slowly spreads by rhizomes to create a little colony. Trim away any old worn fronds early spring for a fresh appearance.
