Luma apiculata (Chilean Myrtle Berry)
Luma is an evergreen denizen of the temperate forests of Chile and Argentina. Fragrant white flowers give way to small edible black berries. Makes a great evergreen screen and when larger, looks amazing limbed up to expose the cool mottled cinnamon bark. Excellent bonsai subject. Luma honey is prized for it’s delicate taste. Luma is long lived and slow growing. It can get large over hundreds of years , but you can expect it to grow about 15 ft over many years in a garden setting. Great container plant. Once grown makes a lovely easy care screen. Happiest in part shade, especially in hot climates. Zone 8
