Bergenia ‘Tubby Andrews’ (Pigsqueak)

Petite, polite and tough as nails, this rarely seen variegated perennial is compact enough for the smallest garden. The fleshy rounded leaves are heavily splashed with creamy white & yellow. They can light up a shady path and provide a bold textural contrast to plants with finer foliage. Foliage turns pink and red in winter. The variegated evergreen foliage is enough of a reason to lust after this plant, but there’s the added benefit of pink flowers on long stems in spring and a repeat in fall. Lovely addition to a mixed evergreen container, edging a dry border or lighting up a shady woodland border. Bergenias are drought tolerant and can handle full sun or shade, but are happiest with at least a few hrs. of sun per day and evenly moist well-draining soil. size Ht 5”-10” W 12” Perennial Zones 4-9

Note: Bergenias are fondly called ‘Pigsqueak’ in reference to how the fleshy leaves sound when rubbed together. ‘Tubby Andrews’ is one cute little Pigsqueak!
