Rubus Raspberry Shortcake Raspberry Bushel & Berry

Thornless, compact dwarf self- pollinating raspberry is perfect for a container or tucked into a small garden. Raspberry shortcake has a sweet rounded, cascading habit making it a wonderful edible ornamental. White flowers turn into full sized delicious raspberries. Hardy zones 5-9 2’-3’ tall and wide. Care of your Raspberry Shortcake Berry Bush: Enjoys compost rich well drained soil in full sun or in hot climates may enjoy some protection from the heat of the day. Needs at least 6 hrs of full sun for good berry production. “Allow plants to go dormant in the winter without pruning. In early spring, green sprouts will come up from the soil and also appear on some of the pre-existing canes. The sprouts from the ground will eventually become canes which will fruit the following season. Old canes with new growth should fruit this year. Cut back the dead canes without new growth to ground level.” I recommend a half whiskey barrel sized container above 16” diameter, preferably 22” or above. If roots get congested… pull it out of the container and chunk off the spreading edges. In the ground to prevent spread and control size, use a garden spade at the edges.
